Two members of the same genus, Blueberries and the cranberry put a burst of sweet and tangy in this easy relish!
Quick Blueberry-Cranberry Relish
Few know that blueberries and cranberries are cousins! Also, a cranberry farmer, Elizabeth Coleman White, whose dad owned Whitesbog, a big, turn of the century cranberry farm in New Jersey, is directly responsible for cultivated blueberries!
This quick-to-make relish can be served warm or chilled!
- 1 can whole berry cranberry sauce (8 ounces)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans (chopped)
- In a medium-sized microwave-safe dish, place cranberry sauce
- Microwave on high power until melted, 60 to 80 seconds
- Remove from microwave
- Fold in blueberries and nuts
- Serve warm or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve
